Cédric Thériault is a classical guitarist renowned for his versatility and musicianship throughout Canada. The young guitarist always wants to elevate the instrument by experimenting with repertoire and presentation. His repertoire encompasses a wide range of music, from Renaissance to contemporary styles. He’s also interested in the art of composing and improvising.
During his time in the Maritimes, Cedric participated in various festivals and competitions, winning First Prize in the Emerging Artist category for classical guitar at the National Music Festival of Canada in 2021 and 2022. He also received an honourable mention at the Athens Guitar Festival Competition in Greece and a silver medal at the Grand Metropolitan International Music Competition in 2022. Other important recognition includes the top 30 under 30 classical musicians in Canada by CBC in 2022, the 30 jeunes francophone en bas de 30 ans à surveiller of the Acadie Nouvelle in 2023 and the prestigious Pascal Poirier distinction of the University of Moncton for graduating students who kept a high GPA and distinguished themselves outside the university via volunteering or engagement.
Since 2018, Cedric has taken part in various concert settings. Some notable participations include the Baker Lake Chamber Music Festival 2022 as a composer and performer, Barachois Summer Music in 2021 and 2022, a solo recital for the Festival Acadien de Caraquet in 2023, and a recital for the Noon at Met concert series at the Metropolitan United Church in 2024. Moreover, Cedric participated in several intensive music programs and residencies, including Domaine Forget in 2023 and MusicAlps in 2024, supported by the Laitetia-Cyr grant and the Experience France Award. Since 2021, he has been invited to several residencies at Musique sur Mer en Acadie, under the direction of Carl Philippe Gionet. Currently, Cedric is commissioning compositions from several Canadian composers on themes such as improvisation and Canadian folklore, with the intention of recording an album in 2026.

His academic journey consisted of completing his bachelor's degree in classical guitar performance in 2023, studying with Michel Cardin at the University of Moncton, and subsequently earning a master’s degree in classical guitar performance at the University of Toronto, where he studied with Jorge Caballero, in 2025. He’s been accepted into the DMA program of performance at the University of Toronto, where he will immerse himself in the practice of improvisation.
One of Cedric's missions is to inspire the next generation of musicians. He took part in several opportunities, such as a recruitment tour in high schools throughout New Brunswick for the University of Moncton, which initially sparked his desire to pursue music and performance, as well as a Q&A session at Newtonbrook Secondary School. He also coached a group of young musicians for the Jeux de L'Acadie.
